Hummingbirds are from the Trochilidae family which have over 300 species of birds. They are native to Europe and America ranging from South America from Brazil and Ecuador all the way up to Alsaka. They have a special ability to hoover in mid air by flapping their wings between 20 and 90 times per second. The hermit hummingbirds and the trochilines make up the two categories of hummingbirds. Hummingbirds are very small birds with long narrow beaks.

They impress us with their grace and charm as they move through the air from side to seed as they feed. Like most birds the males are usually the colorful ones of the species.

The Humminbird feeding habits are mostly nector but are known to feed on sap and some insects.
